Butch Patrick, who portrayed Eddie Munster on "The Munsters" television show from the 1960s, is flying in to visit Lehi during the Lehi Oldies Car Show on Saturday. Patrick is all grown up and has lost his widow's peak although he says on his Web site, www.butch-patrick.com or www.munsters.com, he still has his "Woof Woof" doll.
"He's excited to come to Utah," Bob Godfrey, car show co-organizer, said. "We took a consensus whether they wanted (someone else) or Eddie Munster and the biggest majority wanted Butch." He said next year's show may host of the actors from the movie classic "American Graffiti." The fifth annual car show sponsored by Bob and Carrie Godfrey and their committee, the 2006 show looks to be bigger and better than ever with more cars and more prizes than the year before. "Yes it's a lot of fun," Bob Godfrey said. "We're hoping for a good turnout because of the day we've got it on, we're preparing for 400 cars." There were 318 classics and antique cars that filled the park in 2005. Prizes for the show have gotten bigger and more numerous. There will be a silent auction for a big block Chevrolet engine and a 700R4 transmission and stall converter. A raffle will cost $1 per ticket or $5 for six tickets with regular raffle prizes offered. Another raffle will have prizes of $100 minimum value and the winner picks the prize. Those raffle tickets are $2 each. "Lil' Rocking Rhonda" will rock the park with her golden oldies music. The concert is free as well as many other activities adults including a poker walk. There will be a root beer chugging contest, doughnut eating and several other children's games. One activity Carrie Godfrey feels strongly about is the balloon launch with 500 colorful helium balloons released at noon. Participants can attach a note to a balloon in memory of a dear one. "The car show this year is in remembrance of Colton Connelly, he died at 7 months," she said. He died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS. The car show event proceeds will benefit families who can't afford the funeral and headstone after they have paid expenses of a child's birth. There will be an information booth to help raise awareness of SIDS as well. "The general public needs to know what the family goes through," she said.
